On Sunday 23rd July I participated in the Mega Hero March, a 10km walk along Brighton Bay trail, raising money and awareness for the Children's Tumour Foundation.
Below is an email I sent to the foundation after the event....
I am writing to thank you for the wonderful event, The Mega Hero March, was on Sunday.
As you know Richard, last year I was far from complimentary after the event. I am so pleased that those concerns were addressed this year resulting in a fabulous event for all who attended. The detail that was put into this years event was well received by everyone, right down to the capes (my friends have not stopped raving about them!).
So from the bottom of my heart I thank you. I was exhausted when I completed the walk and have had nerve pain ever since but it was totally worth it. It's a wonderful feeling to walk for something you feel so passionate about and with people who equally share that passion.
A big thank you to everyone that came along and supported me on the day. I was unsure how I would go walking such a long distance but I made it (with the help of Gerri, Michelle and Kerry who's encouragement in the last km, when my body was spent and I thought I had no more energy to give, helped me get to the end before collapsing on a chair).
Although the day was extremely cold, I enjoyed every minute of being in the company of so many who know what it is like to live with NF.
