What an amazing evening I had attending an intimate opera performance 'Omaggio A Antonio Vivaldi A Tribute'.
Set in a small old hall off San Marco square Venice (Ateneo di San Basso) I was mesmerized by the sounds that I felt privileged to be hearing. The orchestra was amazing but it was the Tenor (male) opera singer that stole the show for me. When he performed a song I recognized (from the movie Mirror has two faces!) "Nessun dorma" I couldn't wipe the smile from my face. I felt like a kid at Christmas. Although the Saprano singer was equally as good I was unable to hear her performance as well. I think a lot of the high notes must have been the frequencies that I am unable to hear so her songs didn't seem to flow as well.
The music was so powerful, that it didn't matter that I was unable to understand a word of what was being sung (as it was in Italian).
This is by far the highlight of my trip. How lucky am I to tick off a bucket list item by attending the opera in Italy?! Thanks to Brittany for coming along and enjoying the evening with me.
