Once again I was blown away with the support I received during my Easter raffle fundraiser. Through the kindness and generosity of my work colleagues I put together 3 hampers (including an aboriginal painting that was hand painted by a very talented staff member) and the AFL very kindly donated 2 vouchers, one of which I used for the lucky square competition.
The raffle and lucky square were drawn during a special lunch held at work. I asked my work colleagues to wear yellow, the colour of hope, and thanks to local businesses (subway, dominos and brumbys) we enjoyed a meal whilst raising money for a very special cause.
I have never been a good public speaker. I tend to get very nervous and can never get my words out. It's amazing how when I am pouring my heart out about NF I have all the confidence in the world. Is that because the room is full of my work colleagues, some who I know quite well, maybe? I am so touched to see the effort that people go to for me and for my mission and I think that was evident in my speech.
From the bottom of my heart I thank everyone that was involved in the fundraiser. Together we raised $610 for the Children's Tumour Foundation. That makes $3165 in total from all the fundraisers held to date. What an amazing effort! This both moves me and inspires me. Whether I want it to be or not, NF is a big part of my life. That is why I am so passionate about spreading awareness and raising money. At times this is the one thing that keeps me going.
Let's conquer NF X
